Nanda Devi Estate Binsar

Nanda Devi Estate Binsar is a one of a kind place in the Kumaon Himalayas. Occupying a fabulous patch of forest-enclosed farmland at an altitude of almost 7000 feet, Nanda Devi revels in a sense of magnificent isolation. The nearest neighbour is almost 2 kms away and separated by dense forests. The beautiful colonial style old bungalow was built in 1856 of stone and wood and for years was the home of Vivek Datta and his Belgian wife – an extraordinary couple and their daughter Mukti Datta who fought a lone battle to have Binsar declared a wildlife sanctuary and thus secure this splendidly wild and beautiful area for posterity.
