You can horse ride in Rajasthan or Assam or go on a multi-day riding safari across some beautiful wild country experiencing the eternal unchanging India of the villages; or you can head out into the desert for a few days on camel back, camping under the bright desert stars and being royally entertained every night by village singers and dancers or ride elephants into the dense jungles of the Himalayan foothills, camping in remote forest clearings or Raj era forest rest houses. White water rafting, kayaking, heli-sking in Kashmir, angling for the great mahseer – all of these activities are possible – either as part of a longer holiday or as a more focused activity based trip.
